This is one of Alexander’s most popular models (about 140 were sold during her 7-year production run) the 42 Sedan is a well proportioned family cruiser with a sensible layout and a rakish, euro-inspired profile. Like most Ocean Alexander designs, the 42 was built on a weight-efficient modified-V hull with moderate beam, a shallow keel and cored hull sides. An appealing feature of the 42 Sedan is a large cockpit that provides a good deal of open-air entertaining space for family and guests. Her interior is very innovative in that a second (guest) stateroom with twin beds is fitted below the elevated galley. Visibility from the lower helm is very good, and like most 42 Sedans with a full teak interior. Additional features include a transom door and swim platform, a well-arranged bridge with the helm forward, serviceable side decks, and excellent interior joinery. A modest performer with 375hp Cats will cruise at 15 knots and reach a top speed of about 20 knots.
